HobbsDailyReport.com — whose work is done in loving memory of Chris Hobbs’ oldest brother Randy (died nearly 3 years ago, pictured above) — is starting an effort to boost our advertising list so that we can continue to offer all of our local sports content for FREE.
We have ads for as little as $25 per month that can be displayed wherever you’d like on the website – if you want yours to appear with anything posted on school A, we can do it — to more expensive “major” sponsor ads.
We generally sell ads on a per season basis – fall, winter and spring – but prefer to sell them for an entire school year. They are payable by check by month or there is a savings if you choose to pay for a school year (August to August) at time of purchase.
Keep in mind that your paid ad(s) never come down, as all posts of content on HobbsDailyReport.com stays up and can easily be accessed via a search.
If you are interested in discussing an ad buy more, please contact Chris Hobbs at chobbs001@att.net.

We’re seeking ads/donations to keep

our website a free read for everyone

Welcome to HobbsDailyReport.com’s start of our sixth high school football season of coverage and 47th overall for Editor and Content Coordinator Chris Hobbs.

Chris and his wife, Myra, invite you to review our website, started in April 2017, and enjoy coverage of all sports at the high school level of schools playing in the Catawba Valley 2A Athletic, Western Foothills 3A, the Northwestern 3A-4A plus Burke County schools Draughn and Patton.

HOBBS

From that list of 23 schools, Chris has followed and covered virtually all of them for 46 consecutive years (and) has covered Draughn, East Burke, North Lincoln, Patton, South Caldwell and West Caldwell since each opened.

Our goal, which we have been able to meet each year, is to provide a place online for high school sports fans to follow their team(s) and the conferences they play in – and provide that for FREE.

MYRA

In order to provide content in that way – and all of it is handled by Chris as the only writer we have – we need local businesses in the eight counties the schools play in – Alexander, Ashe, Burke, Caldwell, Catawba, Iredell, Lincoln, Watauga – to sponsor coverage by purchasing an ad(s) on our website.

Local supporters – businesses or individuals (by donation) – can purchase ads that are specific to a high school, one or more of the three conferences or those ads designed to show support of high school athletics overall.

We are and have been fortunate to keep content FREE because of the support of these businesses — all owned or run by individuals who themselves played high school sports locally or also played and had children who play(ed) – or individuals who are graduates of local high schools. These folks believe in the value of high school sports and the tradition of the region, and Chris and Myra are proud to be associated with these businesses:

Dwayne Wilson Insurance, Maiden: Dwyane and his son both played football at Maiden High… and both were on teams covered by Chris. The idea of having a local sports website was planted by Dwayne in an early 2017 conversion with Chris that prompted the creation of HobbsDailyReport.com. His support kept Chris in journalism.

Burke Mortuary, Newton and Maiden: Michael Burke and Chris are graduates of Bandys High and have been friends since those days… Chris’ 1976 graduating class included Michael’s sister, Donna… The Burke family — through many avenues — has been a strong supporter of local high school sports for many, many years.

The Athletes Lab, Maiden: Owner Grant Rembert was a star high school quarterback at Maiden and his brother, general manager Aaron Rembert, was also a multi-sport star for the Blue Devils whose previous jobs included head coach of Mars Hill University baseball… Chris and Myra love seeing the growth and impact of The Lab, which works closely with local student-athletes of all sports on everything from agility to travel baseball (and is in the middle of an expansion for other sports)…our website is a good fit for The Lab and likewise, as Grant and Aaron want/and work toward high school athletes in our area becoming the best they can be… The student-athletes they are working with — and getting exposure from HobbsDailyReport.com — are often college-bound for sports.

Bennett’s Funeral Home, Conover and Newton: Robbie and Rhonda Bennett love supporting the community and joined us last year after Robbie and Chris bumped into each other at a Walmart and talked about how Chris might help the Bennetts best impact local high school athletics (additionally and more broadly than banners in the stadiums). They love and follow all the high schools.

WNNC, Newton and WLON, Lincolnton: The two radio stations, owned by Dave Lingafelt and Lanny Ford, respectively, are our media partners. What they basically means is our website waives its copyright and allows both stations to use any content from the website it wants. Both often provide on air the scores, updates or news developed by Chris’ work.

In return, the stations promote HobbsDailyReport.com with an ad about the website and Chris works closely with Josh Edmonson, football guru at WNNC, and with Lanny, a former Clemson player, in whatever way the stations need help (primarily research by Chris or going on the radio with the hosts at some games).

These stations are committed to quality coverage of high school football (and other sports) and have a huge impact throughout the communities.

HobbsDailyReport.com still exists – through a 90-battle Chris had with COVID early in 2022 and some other health concerns this year – because of Dave and Lanny. Their concern for Chris and Myra was/is so appreciated; it motivated Chris in the tough times to adjust the website a bit and focus on getting better (he has always worked on the website seven days a week).

Thanks for the long read and your interest,

Chris and Myra Hobbs
