MEN’S COLLEGE BASKETBALL: Spartanburg Methodist’s 3-pointers down CVCC

HICKORY – Spartanburg Methodist hit 14 shots from 3-point range on Saturday and defeated Catawba Valley Community College 80-66 in men’s basketball at the Tarlton Complex.

Tracus Chisholm paced Spartanburg Methodist (1-1) with 21 points and hit four of the Pioneers’ 3-pointers.

Tyrell Oglesby led CVCC (1-1), scoring a game-high 22 points that included going 12-for-12 from the free-throw line.

Victor Tshiona added eight points for the Red Hawks, and teammate Myles Williams scored seven points.

Trailing by as many as 26 points in the second half, CVCC closed within 13 points with three minutes, five seconds to play but got no closer.

CVCC’s next game is Wednesday at 7 p.m., a road game against Caldwell Community College & Technical Institute (CCC&TI).
