WOMEN’S COLLEGE VOLLEYBALL: Pasco-Hernando eliminates Catawba Valley

BOLIVIA – Pasco-Hernando (Fla.) State College ended the season for Catawba Valley Community College in women’s volleyball on Saturday, winning 3-0 in the Region X/District P tournament.

After winning a semifinal 3-0 over Lenoir Community College at Brunswick Community, the Red Hawks were eliminated and finished 28-9.

Pasco-Hernando won 25-15, 25-19, 25-23 to advance to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II tournament.

Sophomores Sabrina Pinard and Leslie Leonard led CVCC against Pasco-Hernando. Pinard had 11 kills and two blocks and Leonard added five kills and two blocks.

Also for CVCC, Mallory Bailey and Adair Melton each had four kills and setter Emilee Webber had 22 assists.

Pinard and Bailey earned all-tournament honors.

In a semifinal win over Lenoir Community College, the Red Hawks won 25-9., 25-11, 27-25.

Bailey had eight kills and four blocks to lead CVCC, which also got six or more kills in the match from Pinard, Karysn Mundy and Leonard.

Webber provided the Red Haws with 24 assists, four kills and an ace. Kara Williams added two aces for CVCC.
