HICKORY – Two players from Gaston County and one from Greenville, S.C., will play men’s basketball at Catawba Valley Community College (CVCC).

The Red Hawks on Wednesday announced they’ve signed Byron Sanders of Ashbrook High and Dezure Molden of Cramer, plus Quade Parks of Greenville (S.C.) High.

Sanders averaged 14 points, 5.9 rebounds, 5.4 assists and 2.7 steals last season at Ashbrook to lead the Green Wave to a 16-11 record.

“Byron is a 6-foot-1 point guard who gives us good size and strength at the point position,” CVCC head coach Bryan Garmroth said in a press release. “He is a natural leader with very good skills. He sees the floor very well and gets the ball to the right people at the right times.”

Mouden is a combo guard who averaged a team-high 24.4 points last season at Cramer, where the Storm won 11 games.

“Dezure is a guard who has the ability to play point guard or the two guard,” Garmroth said. “He has very good quickness and ball-handling skills and the ability to score from behind the 3-point line or off the drive. We are very excited to have Dezure.”

Parks led Greenville (S.C.)’s Red Raiders to a 21-3 record last season and was named the Class 4A Region 1 Player of the Year.

“Quade is very strong 6-foot-3 wing player,” Garmorth said. “He is a very skilled player who competes and plays very hard.”

The new signees join six other signees by CVCC for the 2018-19 team – Jahleer Black (Hunter Huss), Zach De La Cruz (Franklin), George Paul (Harding), Cole Johnson (Knightdale) and Jeremiah Keith (Combine Academy) — and Keenan Rankin will return after a two-year hiatus.
