Catawba Valley Community College’s men will attempt to snap a three-game basketball losing streak when they face Patrick Henry (Va.) Community College on Wednesday night in Martinsville, Va.
The Red Hawks (16-8, 8-7 Region X) tip off at 7 p.m., and they are coming off a 98-95 loss last Saturday at Bryant & Stratton (Va.).
Freshman guard Zach De La Cruz scored a career-high 22 points on Saturday, making six 3-pointers – while Sal-Bey Young (13 points), Victor Tshiona (13) and Jordan Powell (11) also reached double figures for CVCC.
Bryant & Stratton led 48-39 at the half after De La Cruz had scored nine points. Tahjay Jacobs and Leland Richardson led Bryant & Stratton (6-16, 6-8), scoring a combined 25 points in the opening half.
Despite a 56-point second half scoring burst that included six 3-pointers, the Red Hawks allowed 50 second-half points.
Jacobs scored 25 points to lead Bryant & Stratton and Richardson added 23.
