NEWTON — Hickory Post 48 returns to action in Area IV American Legion baseball on Wednesday night, playing Asheville at 7 p.m. at the Legion Fairgrounds Field.
Post 48 is 4-6 after beating Burnsville 9-5 in its most recent game.
Andy Cook, Gavin Marley and Kevin Shuford each had two hits against Burnsville with Marley, Brody Scarborough and Connor Stewart each providing a double.
Davis Hall was the winning pitcher in relief, going three innings. He walked two and struck out one.
William Stewart was the starting pitcher for Post 48. He threw three innings and allowed three hits, four runs (two earned) with four walks and two strikeouts.
