Zach Jarrett was not in the lineup Sunday when the visiting Norfolk (Va.) Tides closed a Triple-A series by falling 7-1 to Gwinnett (Ga.).
Jarrett, a former Hickory High and Charlotte star, had the day off.
Jarrett’s batting average is .246.
Norfolk fell to 25-43 and in seventh place (last) in the Triple-A East Southeast Division, 23 games back of division-leading Durham.
Norfolk will be off on Monday before going home to start a six-game series against Durham on Tuesday night.
Jarrett has been in Triple-A since a promotion from Double-A Bowie (Md.) on May 19, and he has twice been assigned to the Baltimore Orioles during his career (March 2019 and February 2020).
Jarrett was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in 2017 and taken in the 28th round.
The Tides will return to Charlotte for a six-game series from Aug. 17-22.
