Hayden Deal is still in search of his 20th win as a pro pitcher.
Deal worked six innings on Sunday but did not factor in the decision as Biloxi (Miss.) edged the visiting Mississippi Braves 4-3 in a Double-A game.
He allowed five hits, two runs (both earned), walked one and struck out six before a crowd of 1,849.
Deal is 2-2 this season with an ERA of 3.91 after 14 starts, and he is 19-15 as a pro with 266 strikeouts in 297 2/3 innings.
On Sunday, he threw strikes on 58 of his 86 pitches and faced 22 batters, increasing his season totals to 58 strikeouts in 69 innings.
Mississippi is 40-32 and tied with Montgomery (Ala.) for first place in the Double-A South’s South Division standings.
The Braves are off on Monday, then start at six-game series at Pensacola (Fla.) on Tuesday.
Deal’s 15th start of the season should come during the series at Pensacola, though what day he will pitch has not been determined.
