Maiden High wide receiver-defensive back Montrell Stinson is the Oldies 101.4 FM WNNC Coca-Cola Golden Helmet Award winner for Week 4.

A senior, Stinson had one catch for 39 yards and a touchdown and three interceptions, one tackle for lost yardage and forced a fumble as the Blue Devils nipped St. Stephens 21-13 on the road last Friday night.

HHS’ Stober Week 3 winner

Hickory High quarterback Bryce Stober won the Golden Helmet Award for Week No. 3 after leading the Red Tornadoes past Newton-Conover 35-6 via 10-of-14 passing for 243 yards and three TDs.

It was Stober’s second varsity start at quarterback and he added five carries for 35 yards.

He has announced he will play baseball next season at Lenoir-Rhyne University.
