HUNTERSVILLE – Top-seeded Maiden High will try to add a conference tournament title to its South Fork 2A championship on Wednesday night at 7 p.m.
The Blue Devils (21-4) face No. 2 seed Lake Norman Charter (16-6) in the tournament final at Lake Norman Charter, the predetermined site of the championship match.
Maiden advanced with a 3-0 first-round home win over No. 8 Lincolnton on Monday and a second-round 3-0 win on Tuesday over No. 5 North Lincoln at Lake Norman Charter.
Lake Norman Charter beat No. 7 West Lincoln on Monday at Lake Norman Charter and downed No. 3 East Lincoln 3-0 at Lake Norman Charter on Tuesday.
Maiden and Lake Norman Charter split in the regular season, Maiden winning 3-1 at home and Lake Norman Charter winning 3-2 at home.
Maiden went 13-1 in the regular season to finish in front of East Lincoln and Lake Norman Charter (each 11-3).
Maiden 3, North Lincoln 0 (Tuesday)
The Blue Devils won 25-18, 25-13, 25-17 behind 10 kills by Savannah Lail and nine kills and 16 digs by Abbey Smith.
Isabella Abernathy and Sarah Wicker each added eight kills, Natalie Lail had 12 digs, and Abbey Gantt and Adison Ford each provided 20 assists for Maiden.
Maiden beat North Lincoln three times this season, also winning 3-2 at North Lincoln and 3-1 at Maiden.
Maiden 3, Lincolnton 0 (Monday)
The Blue Devils rolled, winning 25-11, 25-9, 25-12 for their third win of the year over the Wolves (won 3-0 at Maiden and at Lincolnton).
Smith had nine kills and 12 digs, Anna White had seven kills and Abernathy had seven kills and four aces for Maiden.
Ford and Natalie Lail each added 15 digs for the Blue Devils.
