HIGH SCHOOL CROSS COUNTRY: North Lincoln sweeps South Fork 2A championships

NEWTON – North Lincoln High’s boys won another conference title and the North Lincoln girls won their second South Fork 2A title in cross country on Tuesday at Southside Park.

The Knights’ boys had six runners in the top 10, highlighted by a second-place finish by Jason Thomson (16:18.05).

Lincolnton’s Daniel Hopkins won the boys’ individual race (16:04.66) to keep Thomson from repeating as league individual champion.

Angie Allen of North Lincoln won the girls’ race (18:38.37) after a second place finish the year before. Last year’s winner, Aylssa Galvin of North Lincoln was second in 19:35.30.

The Knights’ girls also had six runners finish in the top 10.
