NEWTON — The start time for Friday’s championship game in the Northwestern Foothills 2A baseball tournament has been moved up by one hour.
No. 2 Hibriten (16-7) will play at No. 1 Fred T. Foard (15-4) at 6 p.m., the schools announced earlier Friday.
Foard won both regular season games, 11-5 at Hibriten on March 29 and 6-4 at Foard on April 16.
The Tigers own the league’s No. 1 bid into the state 2A playoffs via winning the conference regular-season title. Hibriten has locked up the league’s No. 2 bid after finishing second in the conference regular season.
The state playoffs begin on Tuesday.
NORTHWESTERN 3A-4A SOFTBALL: The start time for Friday’s tournament title game — No. 2 Alexander Central (18-5) against top-seeded South Caldwell (17-3) at McDowell — has been moved up from 6 p.m.
The game will begin at 4 p.m. because of the potential for rain later in the day on Friday.
