SECAUCUS, N.J. – The Baltimore Orioles have selected outfielder Zach Jarrett, who played baseball at Hickory High, in the Major League Baseball Draft.
Jarrett played college baseball at Charlotte, where he is a senior.
He was taken by Baltimore in the 28th round with the 848th pick of the draft, which is finishing up the last of three days (40 rounds).
Jarrett’s dad, Dale, was a star high school athlete at Newton-Conover before heading into NASCAR racing.
