MAIDEN – Maiden High has selected Dustin Hull, head baseball coach at Maiden Middle School for six years, to guide its varsity baseball team next season.

The school announced the pick via a press release from its athletic department, indicating that Doug McRee – who return to coaching last season at Maiden – will not return.

McRee agreed to coach the Blue Devils for a year after former head coach David Williams left to become head coach at A.C. Reynolds.

Before coaching in Maiden, Hull was an assistant baseball coach at Draughn for three years and has assisted with the Maiden American Legion baseball team for several years.

“Coach Hull has invested his time and energy into the Maiden baseball program, and we are excited to see where he will take our program,” Maiden athletic director Caine Houser said in the press release.

Maiden finished 11-11 overall last season, going 9-5 in the South Fork to tie Bandys for third place. The Blue Devils beat Forbush in the first round of the state 2A playoffs before falling 9-6 at West Stokes in the second round.
