BUMGARNER

Former South Caldwell High star Madison Bumgarner is scheduled to return from an injury and pitch for the first time this season on Tuesday night when the San Francisco Giants (30-30) face the Arizona Diamondbacks (31-28) in San Francisco.

The game begins at 10:15 p.m.

Bumgarner — 104-76 and in his 10th major league season, all with the Giants — has been sidelined since late March after a line drive in a spring training game in Arizona fractured the fifth metacarpal of his pitching hand.

The first reports after the injury were that MadBum would miss four to six weeks, and he has not pitched this season.

He is earning $12 million this season, and the Giants have an option (at $12 million) to renew his contract for next season. If San Francisco does not pick up Bumgarner’s 2019 option, he will be an unrestricted free agent, meaning he can sign with any team.
