Catch up on the return to the San Francisco Giants pitching rotation by former South Caldwell High star Madison Bumgarner.

On Saturday — in his first game in three months — he threw seven innings and 102 pitches against the San Diego Padres.

Bumgarner, who turns 28 in 17 days, had last pitched at Kansas City on April 19. He wiped out while riding a dirt bike the next day when the Giants had an off day in Denver and sprained an AC joint in his left shoulder and suffered bruised ribs.

“Mad Bum” was drafted by the Giants in 2007 (first round, No. 10 pick) and is in his ninth major league season. He has 100 career wins (100-70), and in four World Series wins (in five starts) his ERA is 0.25.

He has hit 16 home runs in 460 career at-bats.
