FOREST CITY – East Rutherford High had its biggest scoring night of the baseball season on Tuesday and toppled Burns 19-8 in five innings at Burns in a South Mountain Athletic 2A-3A game.
The victory pushed the Cavs (11-2, 9-2) into a first-place tie with R-S Central, which had Tuesday’s open date in the conference schedule.
East Rutherford rans its win streak to six as it preps to play Shelby at home on Thursday at 7 p.m.
The Cavs’ highest run production prior to Tuesday night came in a 14-6 home victory over East Burke.
Burns fell to 5-9 overall and 5-6 in the league and has a makeup game Wednesday at 4 p.m. at East Burke.
