DENVER, N.C. – West Caldwell High’s girls earned a big road win Wednesday in Southern District 7 Athletic 2A softball, knocking off the league’s leader, East Lincoln, 5-4.
The Warriors improved to 6-6 in the conference and sliced the Mustangs’ conference lead over second-place West Lincoln to a half-game.
East Lincoln is 9-2 in league games and West Lincoln, which has a makeup game on Thursday at 5 p.m. at Maiden, is 8-2.
West Caldwell remains in fifth place.
The Mustangs beat the Warriors 9-6 when they met earlier this season in Lenoir.
East Lincoln’s other league loss is 13-5 (Bunker Hill) and West Lincoln’s conference losses are both by 4-3 scores – at East Lincoln and at Bunker Hill.
