BOONE — Appalachian State University women’s basketball junior Madi Story, a former all-state player from Bandys High, has added another accolade after a stellar season, as she was named second-team all-state by the North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA).

Story garners the NCCSIA honor for the first time in her career and is one of 10 athletes from six different schools to make the list. She receives the honor after a solid season in which she led the team in scoring (13.3 points per game), rebounding (6.9), 3-pointers (38) and free throw percentage (73.3 percent). Her career-high numbers led to an All-Sun Belt third-team selection for her first all-conference award.

Story, a third-year guard, was one of the most consistent all-around players as she was one of four student-athletes in the Sun Belt to lead her team in scoring and rebounding, while she also led all guards with five double-doubles.

She also wasone of five student-athletes to score at least 30 points in a game, and she was tied with four other athletes with seven 20-point outings.

Story ranked ninth in the league in scoring and seventh in rebounding. She helped App to its first Sun Belt Tournament win over Coastal Carolina in the first round after scoring a career-high 24 points in an SBC Tourney contest.

App State will return Story and six other players next season.
