LINCOLNTON – Robbie Cowie struck out 14 on Thursday night as Lincolnton High shut out visiting Newton-Conover 6-0 in Southern District 7 Athletic 2A baseball.
The victory evened the Wolves’ league record at 6-6 and they are 7-8 overall with their next two games, both non-league, coming Monday and Tuesday against North Lincoln – Monday at Lincolnton and Tuesday at North Lincoln.
Newton-Conover (3-13, 2-10) has lost back-to-back games as it heads into next week’s Catawba Valley Easter Classic as a No. 8 seed. The Red Devils meet top-seeded Fred T. Foard at 4 p.m. on Monday at the Legion Fairgrounds Field in Newton.
The Red Devils were scheduled to play Foard on March 29 in Newton but that game was postponed.
