NPC 3A-4A SOFTBALL: No. 2 seed Mooresville rolls to tournament championship

MOORESVILLE – Mooresville High beat West Iredell for the third time this softball season on Thursday, winning 16-1 to capture the North Piedmont 3A-4A tournament title.

Mooresville, the No. 2 seed, improved to 18-3 by winning and the loss left the fourth-seeded Warriors at 12-8.

Mooresville swept West Iredell in the regular season 3-2 and 7-2.

After tying Alexander Central for the conference regular season title at 12-2 in league games, Mooresville’s tournament title win gives it the NPC 3A-4A’s No. 1 4A bid into the state playoffs.

Alexander Central will be the next 4A team seeded into the bracket from the league.

The top 3A seed into the postseason from the league is owned by West Iredell, which at 8-6 had the top finish of a 3A team in the conference.
