INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The South Atlantic Conference (SAC) has two of the seven baseball teams in the field for the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional that begins on Thursday.
Lincoln Memorial, the SAC tournament champion, is in and opens Thursday in the second game of the tournament – at Mount Olive – by playing North Georgia at 3 p.m.
Catawba earned an at-large bid and plays Game 3 of the tournament on Thursday at 7 p.m., facing UNC Pembroke.
The tournament opener, on Thursday at 11 a.m., pits USC Aiken against Georgia College.
Two players from area conferences are involved in the tournament, both playing for Catawba. Junior left-handed pitcher Michael Elwell played prep baseball at Lake Norman and junior right-hand pitcher Cody Fitch played prep baseball at Shelby.
