MINGO BAY CLASSIC: Ohio team snaps East Rutherford win streak at 10

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – East Rutherford High’s 10-game baseball win streak is over.

Canfield (Ohio) stopped the Cavs’ hot streak on Thursday with a 5-2 victory at St. James (S.C.) High in the Mingo Bay Classic.

With that loss, Maiden’s current six-game win streak is the longest in four area leagues (Southern District 7 Athletic 2A, Northwestern 3A-4A, South Mountain Athletic 2A-3A and North Piedmont 3A-4A).

East Rutherford (15-3) has a game on Friday in Myrtle Beach, S.C., against an opponent to be named and at a site to be determined.

The Cavs have four games left in the SMAC 2A-3A race, which plays a 16-game schedule. They are 10-2 and tied with R-S Central for the conference lead.

East Rutheford plays at Draughn on Tuesday at 7 p.m. and meets Crest on Friday at East Rutherford at 7 p.m.

The Cavs close the regular season with games against R-S Central on the road on May 2 at 7 p.m. and home against Chase on May 4 at 7 p.m.
