HICKORY – Emmanuel Wembi is moving a few miles up the road to continue his college basketball career.
Wembi, a 6-foot-8 center who has helped Catawba Valley Community College (CVCC) win 42 games in two seasons, has signed to play at Lenoir-Rhyne University.
He averaged 11.4 points, 11.5 rebounds and 2.3 assists and shot 57 percent for the Red Hawks this season as they reached the Region X quarterfinals for a third straight time.
Wembi was one of three players in the region to average a double-double for the year. He was the region’s second-best rebounder on the defensive boards (8.2 per game).
Wembi played high school basketball at Rocky River.
