WOMEN’S COLLEGE SOCCER: Bears look to rebound after 5-match win streak snapped

HICKORY – Lenoir-Rhyne University’s women will attempt to rebound from a loss when they resume conference play on Wednesday with a 7 p.m. match at Limestone.

The Bears’ five-match win streak was snapped Saturday when Queens beat LRU in Hickory, 3-1.

The loss dropped the Bears to 7-3-1 overall and 5-2 in the South Atlantic Conference (SAC).

Queens is 6-4, 2-3.

LRU led Queens 1-0 at the half via the second goal of the season by sophomore Stephanie Figueiredo, but Queen scored three second-half goals to win.

The Bears had more shots overall than the Royals (17-14), but Queens took 10 shots on goal to the Bears’ six.

Senior Loren Stering had seven saves for LRU while Rachel Quest of Queens made five.
