MEN’S COLLEGE SOCCER: Lenoir-Rhyne in first place in conference race

HICKORY – Lenoir-Rhyne University’s first-place men’s soccer team returns to South Atlantic Conference (SAC) action on Wednesday at LRU with a 7 p.m. match.

The Bears grabbed first place in the league on Saturday with a 3-2 home victory over Queens (7-2-1 4-1).

LRU is 6-3 overall and 5-1 in the league.

Sophomore Victor Cascon had two goals, giving him eight this season, and senior Cameron Saul added the other as the Bears beat Queens. Saul added an assist and has four goals this season.

Cascon now had two game-winning scores this season and four for his career.

LRU outshot Queens 15-9 overall and 7-4 on goal.

Blake Baker and Edmundo Robinson each scored a goal for the Royals.

LRU goal keeper Alex Langer had one save and Queen’s Sebastian Kalk made six.
