WOMEN’S COLLEGE LACROSSE: Queens scores 20 goals, easily downs Lenoir-Rhyne

CHARLOTTE – Rachel Perrett had five goals and Ally Blood added four on Wednesday night, leading Queens University past visiting Lenoir-Rhyne University 20-5 in women’s lacrosse.

The Royals (6-2, 2-0) also got three goals each by Allison Conn and Hannah Scott in a South Atlantic Conference (SAC) victory.

COLOMBO

Freshman Gia Colombo led LRU (5-4, 1-1) with two goals and Rachel Elmore, Adriana Williams and Michelle Tang each scored once for the Bears.

LRU had a 24-20 edge in ground balls and a 14-12 edge in draw controls.

Cristi Rowland was in goal for just fewer than 33 minutes for the Bears and gave up 11 goals and made four saves.

Chase Brokaw of Queens made 10 saves.

LRU became the first women’s lacrosse team to beat Queens last season.

Colombo has scored six goals in the last three matches and Elmore has 10 in the same timeframe.

The Bears remain on the road for their next match, a SAC battle against Newberry, S.C., on Saturday at noon.
