HICKORY – Madi Suddreth, who led Lenoir-Rhyne University to two wins, has been named the player of the week in South Atlantic Conference (SAC) women’s basketball.
Suddreth, a junior forward who was a prep star at Alexander Central, averaged 13 points and 4.5 rebounds as LRU defeated Catawba 61-56 and Mars Hill 81-46 last week in league games.
The Bears are 14-11 overall and 8-9 in the SAC.
In an upset victory over the Indians on the road last Wednesday, Suddreth led all scorers with 20 points on 10-of-15 shooting and pulled down seven rebounds.
A preseason all-league selection, Suddreth leads the Bears in scoring (14.4), rebounding (7.1) and blocked shots with 20.
LRU’s next game is Wednesday at home at 6 p.m. against No. 21 Wingate (19-3, 13-2). The game is the Bears’ annual Play 4Kay Day contest.
