MEN’S COLLEGE LACROSSE: Tampa wins, keeps Lenoir-Rhyne winless (0-3)

MARIETTA, Ga. – Tampa kept the Lenoir-Rhyne University men winless this season on Saturday with a 16-11 lacrosse victory in a match played at Pope High in Georgia.

Three Tampa players – Colin White, Jake Mosher and Matt Vetter – had hat tricks as the Bears fell to 0-3.

LRU plays on Sunday against Florida Tech in Savannah (Ga.) at 6 p.m.

On Saturday, Eric Dickinson scored three first-half goals for LRU, which trailed 8-6 at halftime.

A 7-2 scoring run opened Tampa’s lead to 15-8 in the fourth quarter.

The Bears had a 42-35 edge in shots and led 29-22 on shots on goal but Tampa dominated face offs (24-5) and ground balls (42-22).

Ryan Bell scored twice for LRU and Weston Bimstefer had three ground balls and caused two turnovers.

Tampa goalie B.J. Borowski made 19 saves.

The Bears faced Tampa last season and won 12-9 when Dickinson and Joe Buduo each scored four goals.

LRU’s three-game losing streak is its longest since closing out the 2013 season with four straight.

The Bears’ three matches this season have been against teams ranked in NCAA Division II with Limestone and Belmont Abbey each in the top five.
