MEN’S COLLEGE LACROSSE: Lett goal lifts unbeaten Bears past another ranked team

HICKORY – Rallying from down four goals, Lenoir-Rhyne University’s men pulled out a 14-13 double overtime lacrosse win on Saturday over Seton Hill.

The Bears, ranked No. 3 in NCAA Division II, stayed unbeaten (3-0) by winning over ninth-ranked Seton Hill at Moretz Stadium.

LRU won when junior All-American long stick middle Collin Lett scored with 43 seconds left in the second overtime off an assist by senior midfielder Ben Corrigan, who had three goals and two assists.

Seton Hill led 8-4 midway through the second period but LRU got four goals and two assists by junior attacker Joe Buduo to get back in it. He also added a goal with 35 seconds left in the final period that forced overtime.

Seton Hill, which held a 45-41 advantage in shots taken, was led by Zach Rusch and John Miller with three goals each.

Senior Ryan Crompton had a career-high 19 saves for the Bears while Max Eismann of Seton Hill had 11 stops.

The Bears have now beaten two highly-ranked teams in back-to-back matches after having topped No. 1 Limestone, the defending NCAA Division II champion, 17-13 on the road a week before Saturday’s battle.

LRU, 26-4 in its last 30 matches, plays its next match on Monday at 1 p.m., facing Molloy in Hickory.
