MEN’S COLLEGE LACROSSE: Lenoir-Rhyne, 2-2 in league, idle until Saturday

The Lenoir-Rhyne University men are idle in lacrosse until at match on Saturday at Mercyhurst that begins at 1:30 p.m.

The Bears won their last match – 21-16 on Saturday on the road against Newberry, S.C. – to improve to 2-6 overall and even their South Atlantic Conference (SAC) record at 2-2.

LRU had a 12-2 run en route to dropping Newberry to 7-3 overall and 1-2 in the SAC.

The Bears led 9-5 at halftime but the Wolves outscored LRU 9-2 in the third quarter to lead 14-11.

LRU won after outscoring Newberry 10-2 in the final quarter.

Eric Dickisnon led the Bears with six goals and Joe Buduo and Quinn Kuh scored four each.

Noah Johnson started in goal and worked 60 minutes for LRU, allowing 16 goals and recording nine saves.

Erick Szurley racked up 13 saves in the loss while playing the full game, giving up 21 goals.

Zachary Sunderland and Stone Boone had four goals each for Newberry and Jeremy Ross scored three.

Dickinson is fifth in the conference in goals with 27, fifth in points with 38 and second in shots taken with 99.

LRU won on the road for the first time this season.
