HICKORY – Joe Buduo and Ben Corrigan each scored four times Friday, sparking Lenoir-Rhyne University’s men in a 14-12 home lacrosse victory over Florida Tech.

The Bears, ranked No. 6 in NCAA Division II, improved to 5-1 with a win at Moretz Stadium and dropped Florida Tech to 1-3.

LRU had to rally from a 3-0 deficit to win.

The Bears got eight combined goals by Corrgan, a senior midfielder from Alpharetta, Ga., and junior attacker Buduo, who is from Shrewsbury, Mass.

Corrigan’s goal just 24 seconds into the second period broke a 4-all tie and proved to be the match-winner.

Florida Tech’s Justin Williams scored four goals as the Panthers cut the deficit to one goal twice – 6-5 and 10-9 – but the Bears were able to hold on and win.

LRU senior goalkeeper Ryan Crompton earned a win after stopping 15 shots while Florida Tech’s Daniel Flock suffered the loss despite 11 saves.

Buduo’s four goals gives him 19 this season while Crompton added to his all-time saves lead (372).

The Bears’ next match, after four straight home dates, is Wednesday at 3 p.m. at No. 8 Belmont Abbey.
