HICKORY – The first Ronnie Lott Heavy Hitter Award for the new football season at Lenoir-Rhyne University goes to safety Kyle Dugger.

His selection was announced Monday in a press release from LRU.

Dugger, a junior from Fayetteville, Ga., won the award for his performance in last Saturday’s second-opening 36-32 loss at 12th-ranked West Alabama.

He had six tackles and broke up two passes.

Dugger wins the Lott Award for the second time in his career, and he ranks third in tackles for the Bears this season.

Southside Power and Fitness, this year’s sponsor of the Lott Award, will make a contribution to Habitat for Humanity in the honor of Dugger.

The Bears (0-1) travel to play North Greenville, S.C. (1-0) on Saturday at 7 p.m. in the second game for Drew Cronic as head coach at LRU.
