COLLEGE FOOTBALL: Lenoir-Rhyne to honor new president at Saturday game

HICKORY – Lenoir-Rhyne University will honor its 12th president on Saturday at its home football game against North Greenville (S.C.) at 7 p.m.

The game will celebrate the inauguration of Dr. Fred K. Whitt. The formal inauguration investiture ceremony is scheduled Friday.

At Saturday’s game, the first 500 fans will receive a shirt commemorating the inauguration while a special halftime presentation will be held for Dr. Whitt.

In addition, a fireworks show is scheduled to follow the game.

Other promotions for the game include free di’lishi for the first 500 fans and free Frisbees for the first 200 fans, courtesy of Ortho Carolina.

LRU’s new pre-game show — The Bears Talk Coaches Show – is set for Wednesday at 7 p.m., with head coaches Mike Kellar (football) and Jack Winter (men’s soccer) scheduled to appear from the American Honor Ale House & Brewery.
