ROCK HILL, S.C. – Ignacio de Goya, who led Lenoir-Rhyne University to two men’s soccer wins in its first week of play, was named Tuesday as the first South Atlantic Conference (SAC) Player of the Week.
A junior from Madrid, Spain, he had two goals and an assist as LRU opened with 3-0 wins over Lander and USC Aiken.
De Goya scored the match-winner off a free kick early in the first half in the Bears’ win over the Bearcats in the home opener last Sunday.
The Bears are at home Saturday at 5 p.m., facing Limestone (1-0-1).
