CHARLOTTE – Ashley Markland, a four-year volleyball player at Lenoir-Rhyne University, is a finalist for a Carolinas Panthers Graduate Scholarship to support graduate level studies.

Markland — who played high school volleyball at St. Stephens — will graduate this month with a 3.90 GPA and with a bachelor’s degree in exercise science.

The Carolina Panthers award two $10,000 scholarships each year to outstanding student-athletes who have completed their undergraduate work and are seeking support for their graduate level studies.

The scholarships are awarded to one male and one female student-athlete in North Carolina or South Carolina on the basis of leadership, citizenship and academic merit.
