WOMEN’S COLLEGE SOCCER: UNC Pembroke snaps Lenoir-Rhyne’s win streak

PEMBROKE – Lenoir-Rhyne University’s three-match win streak was snapped on Saturday when UNC Pembroke nipped the visiting Bears 2-0.

The non-conference loss dropped LRU to 8-4-1 while UNC Pembroke improved to 8-3-1.

The Braves scored both goals in the first half, at the 10:11 mark by Alexis Pittman and at the 20:32 mark by Stacey Scott.

LRU had a 14-5 edge in shots taken, but the Bears were shut out for the second time this season.

Alayna Morris had two saves in goal for LRU and Gina Ryan had 10 saves for UNC Pembroke.

UNC Pembroke is unbeaten in its last six matches, going 5-0-1.

LRU will be at home for its next match, a South Atlantic Conference (SAC) matchup with Coker at 5 p.m
