HICKORY – Lenoir-Rhyne University’s women collected their fifth shutout victory of the soccer season on Wednesday night, edging visiting Mars Hill 2-0.
Abbie Brown and Stephanie Figueiredo each scored for the Bears (6-3-1, 2-2-1) in a South Atlantic Conference (SAC) match.
Brown, a junior, scored for a team-best fourth time in the opening half and Figueiredo’s goal also came in the first half.
LRU outshot Mars Hill 23-5.
The Bears’ Alayna Morris made three saves in goal and Kaitlyn Danglemaier had 13 for the Lions (2-6-1, 1-4).
LRU is home again on Saturday, facing Anderson (S.C.) at 5 p.m.
