JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman dealt Lenoir-Rhyne University’s fifth-ranked men their first soccer loss on Wednesday night, 1-0.
Tobias Solem Karlsen scored the only goal of the match at the 31:59 mark of the first half. It was his fourth goal of the season and left the Bears 4-1 overall and 1-1 in the South Atlantic Conference (SAC).
Carson-Newman improved to 4-1-1 overall and is 2-0-1 in the SAC.
The Bears had the edge in shot taken (12-7).
Carson-Newman goalkeeper Twan Verweij stopped two shots and Zach King had three saves for LRU.
The Bears’ next match is Saturday at 3:30 p.m., a conference battle on the road with Lincoln Memorial.
