ROCK HILL, S.C. – Lenoir-Rhyne University golfer Jackson Bailey was named the 2017 South Atlantic Conference (SAC) Scholar-Athlete of the Year in men’s golf on Tuesday.
Bailey, a junior from Matthews majoring in finance, has a 3.68 grade point average.
He has been one of the Bears’ top golfers for three seasons, leading this year’s team to an SAC championship in April, and he had top-10 finishes in two events.
Bailey was all-tournament at the State Farm Intercollegiate in October in Tazewell, Tenn. (3-under 213, tied for fourth).
“He has worked extremely hard on and off the golf course and done an excellent job representing Lenoir-Rhyne University,” LRU golf head coach Elliot Gealy said of Bailey in a news release.
The SAC Scholar-Athlete of the Year award is presented annually to one student-athlete in each of the league’s championship sports and is voted on by the SAC’s Faculty Athletic Representatives Committee.
