PGA TOUR: Poston ends up at 6-under par at Wyndham Championships

GREENSBORO – J.T. Poston finished at 6-under par over the weekend in the Wyndham Championships, tying for 50th after making the cut for the 20th time in 28 events during his rookie season on the PGA Tour.

Poston, a prep golf star at Hickory High who was then one of college golf’s top players at West Carolina, had rounds of 67, 69, 67 and 71 in Greensboro. His 274 total was 16 strokes behind tournament winner Henrik Stenson.

Stenson nipped Ollie Schniedergans by one stroke for the tournament title.

Poston had 15 birdies during the tournament, seven bogeys and one double bogey.

After four birdies in each of the first two runs, he had six in the third round. His 69 in the second round included three bogeys.

Poston has won more than $662,000 in his rookie season.

He is not listed as an entry in the Northern Trust that begins on Thursday at Glen Oaks Club in Old Westbury, N.Y.

The next PGA Tour event is Sept. 1-4, the Dell Tech Championships in Norton, Mass., and the entry list for that event won’t be finalized until this Friday.
