LOS ANGELES — Hunter Harvey got three quick outs in the ninth inning on Tuesday night when the Washington Nationals downed the Dodgers 8-3 in Los Angeles.

Making his ninth appearance of the season and pitching in his latest inning of the year, Harvey threw strikes on seven of his 11 pitches and struck out one before 53,302.

The Nationals (34-66) won two of three in L.A. — the Dodgers won 7-1 on Wednesday and Harvey did not pitch — and they are off Thursday before starting a series against St. Louis on Friday night in Washington.

Harvey, a 2013 first round pick by Baltimore, is 0-0 this season with an ERA of 3.12. In 8 2/3 innings, he has nine strikeouts. He has pitched in 36 big league games with a 1-2 record, 3.34 ERA with 32 strikeouts in 32 1/3 innings.
