Thank you for resuming following the high schools we cover in the Catawba Valley 2A Athletic, Western Foothills 3A and Northwestern 3A-4A plus Draughn and Patton.
We also dabble in daily updates on the Hickory Crawdads and follow the baseball careers of Hayden Deal with the Mississippi Braves (Double A) and Washington Nationals reliever Hunter Harvey.
We sincerely apologize for the timing of the first server crash we’ve ever experienced… and it was a major one that could not have fell on a worse day. We appreciate your understanding and patience as we are back operative as Tuesday, Aug. 23 and immediately going into catch-up mode.

The crash at mid-day of Friday wiped out you usual ability to access the most timely website with Friday’s varsity football games, the actual game reports that night, and we have posted some info on Facebook while away.
It has been reported back to us that the server crashed and still had our website on backup. But before they could also recover our database — nearly 8,000 posts — the server that sat it on crashed, leaving the site unavailable and its content, all of it, facing having to be recovered so we could be back online.
Ugh.
This is our sixth football season and the 47th overall for Chris Hobbs, our editor and content coordinator, and his 28th straight keeping individual stats on all players in the region (with the help of some additional local media).
We are now in the process of posting some of the preseason items that are unique to our site — like returning stats for all underclassmen so you can get a feel for who the best returning players are… and we also did that for each conference.
We’ll return to nightly scorelists that will follow a weekly schedule of non-football varsity events, a daily schedule of those and, of course, varsity football and junior varsity football scores and standings (we’re the only local media that regularly follow JV football).

It will likely take a few days to get back to normal, as we still have all 23 team varsity football previews to complete and post. We promise to develop those and get them posted ASAP.
