Fred T. Foard High has won two of the three major awards in Northwestern Foothills 2A wrestling for this season with Allen Pyatte honored and the Tigers’ Mike Carey earning Coach of the Year.
Landon Shuford of West Iredell (126 pounds) was selected the Wrestler of the Year for the regular season while Pyatte (195) was the MOW at the conference tournament.
Foard went unbeaten in the league and won the conference championship, finishing ahead of Bunker Hill and Patton.
The Tigers had 11 wrestlers on the all-conference team, released on Saturday by conference officials, and Bunker Hill was next with eight.
