Maiden and Hickory had golfers qualify for state high school golf championship tournaments on Monday as individuals after finishes in the West 2A and West 3A Regionals, respectively.
Hendersonville, Patton and West Lincoln finished 1-2-3 at Cleghorn Plantation to earn team bids into the state 2A tournament next week, while a round of 78 got Kenan Lawing of Maiden and individual spot.
In the West 3A at River Bend, Charlotte Catholic, Waynesville Tuscola and Crest grabbed bids in the state 3A tournament, and Hickory’s Ben Nichols and Eli Wyatt had 75s to gain individual berths.
South Caldwell finished eighth in the West 4A Regional and did not have an individual qualify for the state 4A tournament.
