OUR 2019 HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL COVERAGE BEGINS

HobbsDailyReport.com

OUR COVERAGE of high school football for the 2019 season begins today at HobbsDailyReport.com.

It will be our third year of football since the launch of our local sports website in April of 2017, and the 44th consecutive football season for Chris Hobbs, editor and content coordinator for our new merged website.

Since last football season, we’ve merged with CatawbaValleySportsnc.com – you can reach our website by typing in either CatawbaValleySportsnc.com or HobbsDailyReport.com – and our website is co-owned by Will Hancock of Hickory and Chris Hobbs’ wife, Myra, of Denver, N.C.

Will primarily handles ad sales and business aspects for our site — along with Myra — and Myra is also our video and graphics coordinator.

Already available is a playing date-by-playing date schedule for varsity football teams in the South Fork 2A, Northwestern Foothills 2A and Northwestern 3A-4A, and we’ll soon post individual schools’ varsity football schedules in each of those conferences.

You can also visit the individual school pages — go to High School Scoreboard and click on the school from the drop down menu — to review the statistical leaders on offense for each team from the 2018 varsity season.

HobbsDailyReport.com will also provide schedules for junior varsity football teams in those three conferences, and we’re the only local media that follows JV football with game reports and standings.

Additionally, we’ll continue to provide items like a weekly schedule of high school events in those three conferences, a daily schedule of events, roundups, standings and other notes of interest throughout the school year. In the fall, that will be in volleyball, boys’ soccer, girls’ tennis, cross country and girls’ golf.

Please visit our FREE website often for updates and be looking for coming announcements about improvements we are making.

We will have varsity football team previews for the 23 schools in the South Fork 2A, Northwestern Foothills 2A and Northwestern 3A-4A before the season kicks off on Aug. 23, and we’ll continue to provide game-by-game previews by Friday morning on all games involving football teams in those conferences.

We look forward to working with the schools in those leagues and to continuing as the most consistent, most accurate and highest-volume local sports coverage in the Greater Hickory area.
