LENOIR – Getting two scoring runs and a 95-yard kickoff return for a touchdown from Gee Witherspoon powered Hibriten High to a 33-6 home victory over Concord Robinson on Friday night.

Witherspoon, who last season averaged 6.1 yards a carry as the Panthers went 14-1 and reached a West title game, had TD runs of 1 and 5 yards to get Hibriten an early 13-0 lead.

The Panthers extended their lead with a 21-yard TD pass from Jaylen Scott to Chris McBryde, and they led 27-0 after Witherspoon, who had eight scores in four postseason games last season, took a kickoff 95 yards for a TD.

A TD by Marquone Jones had the Panthers up 33-0 before Robinson got its only score.

The victory came in the 80th game for Clay Lewis as Hibriten’s head coach. He’s in his eight season and has guided the Panthers to 58 wins.

Hibriten’s next game is Friday at 7:30 p.m. against county rival West Caldwell on the road.
