The Rams won their sixth state football title while East Surry — coached by former Bandys head coach Trent Lowman — was playing in its first state football championship game.

Lowman, a star quarterback while playing for his dad, Randy, at Bandys was also later an assistant coach at his alma mater and spent five years as the Trojans’ head coach after taking over when his dad retired.
