CATAWBA – The official rushing yardage for Bandys High senior running back Ethan Howard in last Friday night’s 51-14 home state 2AA football playoff victory over West Stokes is 22 carries for 224 yards.
Howard’s official rushing totals are compiled by Bandys coaches as they review weekly game film.
Third-seeded Bandys (12-1) plays at second-seeded Hibriten (13-0) on Friday at 7:30 p.m. in a third-round game.
Against West Stokes, Howard scored three rushing touchdowns and set a Bandys single-season rushing record on a 75-yard scoring run in the second quarter.
Howard’s season totals are up to 267 carries for 2,209 yards – besting Chris Douglas’ 2,093 in 1998 – and Howard has already become the Trojans’ all-time leading rusher (617 carries for 4,444 yards).
Chris Spade previously held the career rushing record of 4,064 yards in 2003-04.
Howard now has 11 games of 100 or more yards rushing this season. He’s had at least 131 yards in nine consecutive games and 205, 220 and 224 in his last three.
After 47 varsity games, Howard also has 4,504 career yards of total offense and has scored 45 TDs.
