NEWTON – Sophomore runners from A.C. Reynolds and North Iredell won championships in the United Way Invitational high school cross country meets at Southside Park.
Dwayne Lillie of A.C. Reynolds took the boys’ title in 16 minutes, 17.01 seconds while North Iredell’s Jonna Strange won the girls’ race in 18:47.72.
Little finished ahead of Jayden Hefner of St. Stephens (16:28.03) and Lincolnton’s Daniel Hopkins (16:30.19) in the boys’ championship race.
Riley Carswell of Freedom (20:05.03) and Riley Hill of West Henderson (20:25.74) finished closest behind Strange.
East Lincoln runners swept the titles in the invitational races with Olivia Humphrey winning in 20:27.14 and Beck Classey taking the boys’ race in 17:34.75.
